Wash-house Manager
The Wash-House Manager oversees vegetable processes including washing, culling, packing, maintaining storage conditions for, and monitoring inventory of all vegetables grown on the farm in order to provide high quality produce to wholesale, retail and CSA customers. This is a physically and mentally demanding job that requires great organizational skills, attention to quality, ability to manage and motivate up to 6 employees, ample energy, clear written and verbal communications skills, and a positive attitude.
Duties
Develop daily work plan that makes the best use of employees, equipment, and space
Maintain wash-house equipment
Monitor temperature and humidity levels in 5 vegetable storage rooms
Oversee up to 6 employees at several workstations helping them to work efficiently.
Manage inventory of long term produce storage communicating with Sales Manager and Farm Manager about the condition of stored crops.
Keep inventory of wash-house supplies and order as needed.
Maintain quality standards for all the produce passing through the wash-house. This requires complete understanding of quality issues and constant observation of the products and employees.
Complete or delegate weekly paperwork such as bill of ladings and invoice adjustments.
Maintain a clean and organized wash-house
Required Skills/Traits
High energy and ability to work four 10-12 hour days per week
Great organizational skills
Ability and interest in being in charge of up to 6 people
Knowledge of produce quality standards
Basic computer skills
Ability to develop systems and the signage necessary to implement them a plus
Pay: The salary for this position will be dependent on experience with potential for excellent pay.
