Spring is a great time to be a CSA member - once we get into the warmer months things really start to pick up and there is a noticeable difference from week to week as new veggies become available!

The Spring Share finds us taking advantage of last fall’s bountiful harvest and looking forward to the promise of a new season. We'll start the share with harvests of fresh salad greens and shoots. We are well stocked with beets, carrots, potatoes, rutabagas, cabbage, onions, and other treats from the root cellar. We had a long harvest last summer and our freezer is storing that goodness, like spinach, squash puree, sweet red peppers, tomatoes, roasted poblano peppers, broccoli and cauliflower, and more tomatoes. These veggies will fill the bulk of the vegetable portion for the first 5-6 weeks of the share.  

In March/early-April, we heat things up with greenhouse goods in each weeks' share. Delicacies such as mesclun, baby pac choi, Asian greens, kale, and chard burst onto the scene followed by bunched beets, salad turnips, Napa cabbage, scallions, and mini onions. May and early June bring head lettuce, cucumbers, baby fennel, spinach, radishes and much more!

 

Localvore Offerings

This period's offerings include a variety of items for your pantry, such as apples from Champlain Orchards; yogurt from Butterworks Farm; an array of award-winning Northeast Kingdom sheep, cow and goat cheeses; eggs from Tangletown Farm (usually every second or third week); whole wheat and unbleached white flour from various organic farms; breads from Patchwork, Slowfire, and Red Hen Bakeries; pizza dough from our kitchen; oyster and shiitake mushrooms and dried cranberries from the Champlain valley; VT grown and pressed sunflower and canola oil; organic and heirloom beans from the NEK; Quebec grown grains including oats and barley; tamari and miso from several Quebec farms; local raw honey; sauerkraut from central VT; pesto, salsa, and other items from Pete's Kitchen; and much more. Many of these items are certified organic and all are locally produced by excellent farms and producers.

 

Our CSA Share Types

Localvore Share: This share is designed to fill your fridge and pantry with enough vegetables and local staples to cook healthy and well each week. We take care each week to combine vegetables with local items that work well together so that you have ingredients that go together in recipes. This is our most diverse share. And then we provide the recipes too! Price is $850 for 17 weeks.

Who should get this share: The foodie who wants diversity in veggies and staple pantry items. This share is $50/ week. Each week you'll receive 6 - 9 veggie varieties plus 2 - 4 pantry items.

Everyday Share: This share includes regular salad greens plus a variety of Pete’s Greens organic, seasonal veggies. It’ll include your everyday items like carrots, potatoes, onions, garlic, and beets, as well as hearty root veggies and weekly fresh greens and herbs including kale, chard, parsley, and cilantro. 

Who should get this share: The Everyday Standard is ideal for small households while the Everyday Large is built for families. This share highlights the veggies your household may be most likely to buy and use on a regular basis. 

The Everyday Standard includes 5 – 7 veggie varieties for $25/week.

The Everyday Large includes 6 - 9 varieties for $38/ week. In addition to more varieties of vegetables in the larger share, you can expect larger quantities (family size portions) of certain veggies like potatoes, carrots, onions etc.

Fancy Share: Weekly salad greens and a few of your standard cooking veggies, but also includes herbs regularly and less common veggies like specialty radishes, radicchio, and specialty greens. You'll receive a generous portion of greens each week along with a wide variety of diverse veggies. The share includes 6 – 9 veggie varieties. 

Who should get this share: The epicurean home chef! This is our most diverse share, ideal for adventurous home cooks and small households. This share is $32/ week.

Pete’s Pantry Share: You’ll receive delicious local products and staple items like free-range eggs, local breads, fruit, and award-winning cheeses on a consistent basis. Flours, oils, dried beans, miso, sauces, and yogurt make stocking your pantry easy. You’ll also receive items from the Pete’s Greens kitchen.

Who should get this share: Anyone! If you love trying the best of regional northern Vermont and stocking your pantry with wholesome, organic, and local goods, this is for you. This share is $20/ week for approximately 3 -4 items each week. (Note: some weeks you may receive 2 higher value items, some weeks you may receive 5 items! This is an average.)

Egg Share: A weekly delivery of 1 dozen locally raised, pastured eggs from Tangletown Farm in West Glover, VT or Axel's Eggs in Greensboro, VT. This share is $97.75 ($5.75/ week).

Bread Share: A weekly delivery of 1 loaf of locally made, fresh bread. Expect a diversity of bread from either Slowfire, Red Hen, or Patchwork Bakeries. Breads will be a standard table loaf but may include a sourdough loaf, polenta loaf, country French loaf, or wheat loaf. This share is $110.50 ($6.50/ week).

Cheese Share: A weekly delivery of 1 type of cheese from local cheesemakers. The style and type of cheese will vary from week to week, and may be cow's milk, sheep's milk, goat's milk, or a milk blend. Cheese may be soft, hard, or spreadable. We work with many cheesemakers like Cellars at Jasper Hill, Bonnieview Farm, Lazy Lady Farm, Sweet Rowen Farmstead, and West River Creamery. All cheeses are made with locally sourced milk. This share is $153 ($9/ week).

Meat Share: A monthly delivery of 3 – 4 locally raised, organic, and/or grass fed meats. Meats often include whole and cuts of chicken, and a variety of pork and beef products as well as less common cuts and varieties.

Who should get this share: Meat lovers! This share is designed to give your household a variety of locally raised cuts of meat. The share is delivered every month. Each month you’ll receive a $50 share value ($200 for the season).

Payment Plan Options

We now offer credit card payments! Because credit card processing is expensive, we've added on a flat credit card processing fee to help us cover that cost. We still accept payment by check. We accept SNAP/EBT as a form of payment, too. Payment plans are only available when paying by check. Read on for more information about our payment plan options.

The Localvore, Everyday, and Fancy Shares can be split into four equal payments, with checks deposited the first of every month.

The Pantry and Meat Shares can be split into two equal payments, with checks deposited the first of the month.
