Summer Share 2019

Big news!! our Good Eats CSA is getting an overhaul this summer. Sign-up is coming soon!

Big changes are coming to our Good Eats CSA this summer! In May 2019, we're moving to a customizable CSA share option, complete with member-managed accounts. We'll start signing up for our Summer season then - stay tuned!

The Summer CSA Share is the fresh food lover's dream! Our Summer Share is filled with all of the best and freshest produce gathered for you. This is true "farm to plate" eating as many of our veggies are picked just days, even hours, before they're sent to you. Throughout the summer, you enjoy the height of vegetable production granted us by Vermont's long, warm days and our fertile valley soil. If you've never had a CSA share before, this is THE perfect introduction!

Vegetable Offerings

By June and the start of our Summer Share, our greens are growing, our fields are blooming, and the offerings become more diverse as each week arrives. Heirloom tomatoes, mesclun, various greens, onions, carrots, eggplant, cucumber, broccoli, herbs, sweet & hot peppers, sweet corn, summer and winter squash are just a handful of the vegetables that we grow. We intend to provide a good amount of standard vegetables each week such as salad greens, carrots, cucumbers, beans, head lettuce, potatoes, onions, summer squash and tomatoes, but you can expect a great level of diversity with over 70 different varieties likely throughout the 17 week season. The Summer season includes the end of spring, the height of summer, and the early part of fall. We started as a farm catering to high-end restaurants and continue to grow many of the unique and heirloom varieties requested by our chefs.

Localvore/ Pantry Offerings

This period’s offerings include a bevy of fresh berries and other fruit; free range eggs every other week; artisan breads every three weeks, and a variety of other products such as: yogurt from Butterworks Farm; an array of Northeast Kingdom sheep, cow, and goat cheeses; oyster and shiitake mushrooms; heirloom and organic beans from Morningstar Farm in Glover; rolled oats and miso from Quebec farms, homemade and healthy granola; locally made English muffins; wholesome veggie burgers for grilling, made with Vermont grown ingredients; fresh pasta; and items like local, hand-rolled tortillas. Many of these items are certified organic and all are locally produced by excellent farms and producers. Plus preserved foods from Pete’s Kitchen including salsa, pesto, pickles, and pizza dough and sauce, plus more surprises!

Weekly Newsletter - Each week, all share members receive an email with a list of the items in the share to help decide what to cook up this week. We also provide great weekly recipes using the items in the share and tips about the veggies themselves.  The newsletter includes background on the local farmers whose cheeses or grains, beans, flour or meats might be part of a share. And of course we include news from the farm. Every Friday, you'll get a "Sneak Peek" at what to expect in your share the following week.

Changes to Your Delivery or Travel Plans? – If you will be away and need to make changes to your share delivery, let us know the week before. You can skip the week's delivery and receive a credit on your account to use toward your next share. You can also elect to have your share donated to the Food Pantry. Or, if you know you will be closer to another of our pick-up sites one week, with advance notice you can request that your share be available at that site rather than the one you sign up for.
